Off the field, Lynch is an entrepreneur, actor, and philanthropist. He founded the Fam 1st Family Foundation to support underserved youth in his hometown of Oakland for nearly two decades with mentorship, education, and athletic opportunities.

From Skittles to Serves: Marshawn’s Pickleball Origin Story

“First time I learned about Pickleball was in 2018 during a launch campaign for Skittles.”

It started as a one-off activation but quickly turned into something more. Like so many others who find their way to the sport, Marshawn got hooked.

“I had to find something to do in retirement to keep me active. I can pull up to Lifetime and always find a game. My cousin Marcus (Peters) likes to get down too, so we can hit the courts whenever and get a game in.”

What keeps him coming back?

“You kinda have to keep your head on a swivel cuz there’s more action than you may think, but then there’s also a little bit of shit talking with your opponents and friendly banter with those waiting for next game.”

Why JOOLA?

Out of all the paddle companies in the game, Marshawn chose to roll with JOOLA

“I f**k with premium and JOOLA is the best of the best. When I started playing and needed a paddle, JOOLA was the one everyone turned me on to.”

“My mutha f**kin name is on it. No but for real, Pickleball is a game that everyone can play, all ages, all walks of life. So going to a court and using my own racket in collaboration with JOOLA is just hella dope. The game continues to grow and it makes me feel good to know that I’m getting a chance to play a part in that.”

“Strategy… you have to adjust based on your opponent. Some players rely on speed, some on strength, you have to be able to counter and move to have success on the field or on that court.”

“I get that the pros and experts of the game are gonna get down with some of the higher end JOOLA models and one day we will hopefully have something for them cuz who doesn’t wanna take your game to Beastmode levels.
