Amy Wang and Lily Yip win Player of the Year Recognition Awards

Team JOOLA congratulate Amy Wang and Lily Yip on their recognition in USA Table Tennis’ recent Player of the Year awards. The awards identified the top elite players in the country across 2022 for their incredible accolades in the sport.

Amy Wang Named Women’s Player of the Year

Amy Wang won top honors, following a stellar year of outstanding performances both domestically and internationally. Wang turned heads when she cruised through the draw at the 70th Anniversary JOOLA Global Championships in September, winning the Women’s Singles title.

She went on to win gold at the WTT Feeder Event in December in Fort Lauderdale, and then battled against several match points to claim her first ever Women’s Singles title at the US Open to close out the year.

Wang moved up to her highest Women’s World Ranking yet this month, reaching an impressive 64th. She continues to build momentum and dazzles spectators with her seemingly effortless handle of the game. Amy Wang will be a player to watch in 2023 and beyond as she cements herself as a strong contender for the top female player in the US.

Lily Yip Named Senior Women’s Player of the Year

There aren’t many senior players who have the energy, the fighting spirit and the desire to win, that Lily Yip has. 2022 saw the 2-time US Olympian blaze a trail through almost every event she contested. At the US Nationals, JOOLA Global Championships and US Open, she took away handfuls of medals – most of them gold.

In Over 40 and 50 Women’s Singles events she was the standout contender, brushing aside her competition at every opportunity.

Yip won 5 medals at the US Open (4 gold), 7 medals at the US Nationals (6 gold) and 6 medals (6 gold) at the JOOLA Global Championships.

Congratulations to all of our JOOLA players on an amazing 2022 season, and to Amy Wang and Lily Yip for receiving these recognitions!
