Faith Hu Spearheads Table Tennis Fundraiser Tournament for Earthquake Relief
Team JOOLA’s Faith Hu took her passion for table tennis to the court for a more humanitarian cause recently. Hu, recently returning from a successful campaign at the US Youth National Team Trials, had her mind on Turkey and Syria. A Table Tennis Fundraiser Tournament proved to be the perfect solution to aid the cause.
The earthquakes caused a significant amount of damage and an unspeakable loss of life. As the world has stepped up to support those in need, so too did the table tennis community in New Jersey.
47 participants attended the tournament, held on March 12th at the Princeton Pong club. Collectively the players raised over $2000 to donate to relief for the earthquake victims.
“I’m grateful for all the support people gave for such a meaningful event,” says Hu, speaking about the tournament.
“The table tennis community is one of the reasons I love the sport. They have the ability and willingness to come together with shared passion for the sport. In this case the community helped bring much-needed earthquake relief to Turkey and Syria.”
Table Tennis has long been involved as a tool for charitable causes. Across many parts of the world, other clubs also created their own events to contribute. The ITTF Group activated its Emergency Relief Fund to pool resources from the table tennis community in support of the two countries .
Team JOOLA are proud of Faith’s efforts to use it as a force for good, and applaud her successful table tennis fundraiser tournament.
