JOOLA Dynaryz ACC & AGR Review by Coach Carl Danner

JOOLA Dynaryz ACC & AGR Review by Coach Carl Danner

What a treat to review something new – hot off the production line. And I had a perfect comparison to make, since I also had new sheets for my usual setup of 2.0 JOOLA Maxxx-P (forehand) and JOOLA X-Plode Sensitive (backhand) on a medium speed balsa carbon blade. I smiled on opening the package, because the Hyper Bounce underlying sponge was…purple. Not just a little purple, but purple like the ice pop stain your nephew left on your nice shirt at the barbeque. Rather pleasing, actually. I also had two varieties of Dynaryz, the JOOLA Dynaryz AGR (bit firmer) and the JOOLA Dynaryz ACC (bit softer), so I put the AGR on the forehand and the ACC on the backhand. One immediate result was a somewhat heavier racket, in part because the Dynaryz was max thickness, and in part because my usual rubber is on the lighter side.At the table, I gave the Dynaryz a workout including counters, loops and reloops, blocks, pushes and serves. I gave my usual setup the same workout, and a funny thing happened. I didn’t want to use the old setup any more, even with brand-new rubber. The Dynaryz looped strongly and comfortably while delivering the trajectories advertised on the package (a bit lower and more drive from the AGR), delivered the goods on the spin shots, and was lovely to serve and push with.It surprised me in two ways. First, my counters and hits were quite solid for spinny max thickness rubber, no problem at all and no evident tradeoff in performance between spin and feel on smashes (especially for the AGR). Second, the Dynaryz let me execute a stroke I love but sometimes struggle to land, a low topspin half-drive from behind the table I use to try to stay in rallies against quick and powerful opponents. Even when just carrying the ball back from a distance, the Dynaryz added some extra topspin that gave me a bigger margin of error I haven’t had before on that shot. This is good. Two new sheets, one playing session, one convert. That was me and JOOLA Dynaryz; maybe it will be you, too?
