Rane Grabs Gold at APP Miami Open
APP Miami Open:
The APP Tour visited Miami, Florida for the first time for the APP Miami Open. Played indoors, the tournament featured new partnerships on the podium.
Men's Doubles:
In the Men's Doubles category at the APP Miami Open, Johnson paired with Frazier to showcase impeccable teamwork and precision throughout the competition. Their journey to the top was not without its challenges, facing formidable opponents in each round. In the semifinals, they triumphed over Spencer Lanier & Jason Bock with a commanding 11-2, 11-6 victory, securing their spot in the finals. Undeterred by the pressure of the championship match, Johnson & Frazier delivered a dominant performance against Ryler Deheart & Will Howells, claiming the title with an emphatic 11-3, 11-3 win.
Erik Lange & Jesus Manthou put up a valiant effort throughout the tournament, earning themselves a bronze medal in the Men's Doubles category after a convincing victory over Spencer Lanier & Jason Bock in the bronze medal match.
Men's Singles:
In the Men's Singles division, Hunter Johnson emerged as the APP Miami Open champion after a hard-fought battle against Grayson Goldin. Johnson's victory came after a tense encounter with Jack Foster in the semifinals. Following, he put on a resilient performance against Goldin, securing the title with a 15-13, 15-8 win.
Mixed Doubles:
The Mixed Doubles category at the APP Miami Open also witnessed thrilling matchups. In the quarterfinals, Milan Rane and Will Howells defeated Susannah Barr and Hunter Johnson 11-9, 11-8. Simultaneously, Andrei Daescu and Megan Fudge toppled the duo of Bobbi Oshiro and Brendon Long 11-4, 11-9. In the semifinals, Rane and Howells fell to Tyra Black and Dylan Frazier in straight games 12-10, 11-1. Fudge and Daescu continued their hot streak by taking out Jorja Johnson and Gabe Tardio in the second semifinal. In the finals, Black and Frazier were too dominant, besting Fudge and Daescu 11-4, 12-10.
Women's Doubles:
In the Women's Doubles category at the APP Miami Open, Milan Rane & Jorja Johnson emerged as the champions. They defeated Ewa Radzikowska and Judit Castillo in the semifinals, 11-9, 6-11, 11-9. Rane & Johnson then went on to defeat Susannah Barr and Megan Fudge, securing the title with an 11-8, 11-1 win.
Women's Singles:
Lastly, in the Women's Singles division, Megan Fudge showcased her dominance on the court, clinching the title after a gripping final against Jenna Hessert. Fudge's remarkable journey to the championship included a semifinal victory over Bobbi Oshiro, culminating in a hard-earned 15-13, 15-13 win in the finals. Bobbi Oshiro claimed the bronze medal with a three-set victory over Katerina Stewart.
Senior Pro Spotlight:
The AARP Senior Pro Division at the APP Miami Open featured intense matchups all weekend long. JOOLA pro, Angela Simon, was a force to be reckoned with as she battled her way to two medals. Simon fought alongside Lee Whitwell in Women's Doubles to claim the gold medal in their category. Next, she partnered with Dan Granot in Mixed Doubles to take home silver.
