Singles Breakout Moment for Kate Fahey: APP Newport Beach

The APP Tour resumed play by traveling to California for the annual APP Newport Beach Open. The APP Newport Beach Open showcased thrilling pickleball action across all categories. For full match results, visit pickleballbrackets.com. 

Men's Doubles:

In Men's Doubles, Will Howells & Patrick Kawka defeated Tanner Tomassi & Kyle Koszuta in the semifinals (4-11, 11-8, 11-2). Simultaneously, Erik Lange & Purple Jesus Manthou triumphed over Jack Munro & Andre Mick in three sets (11-3, 10-12, 11-9). The finals saw Lange & Manthou overcoming Howells & Kawka (11-6, 11-9) after overcoming a 6 point deficit in the second game. Lange and Manthou met only six months ago, but take their first title together at APP Newport Beach. The bronze medal match was equally gripping, as Munro & Mick managed to edge past Tomassi & Koszuta 6-11, 11-4, 11-9.

Men's Singles:

In the Men's Singles, Chris Haworth demonstrated his prowess by defeating Ronan Camron in the semifinals with scores of 7-15, 15-8, 15-7. John Cangelosi displayed exceptional tenacity, edging out Purple Jesus Manthou in a nail-biting match that ended 16-14, 17-15. The finals saw Haworth continuing his dominant form, overcoming Cangelosi 15-7, 15-10 to claim the title. APP Newport Beach marks Haworth's fourth singles title this year. Manthou secured the bronze with a solid performance against Camron, winning 15-13, 15-11.

Mixed Doubles:

The Mixed Doubles category was filled with dynamic and strategic play. Will Howells & Bobbi Oshiro defeated Eric Oncins & Jill Braverman in the semifinals with scores of 11-9, 11-6, while Jack Munro & Megan Fudge showcased their strong partnership by dominating Allison Harris & Andre Mick 11-3, 11-5. In the finals, Munro & Fudge overpowered Howells & Oshiro 11-6, 11-6, securing their championship title. The bronze medal match saw Oncins & Braverman triumph over Harris & Mick with a final score of 11-2, 7-11, 11-6.

Women's Doubles:

Women's Doubles featured equally impressive performances. Yana Newell & Emily Cederquist showcased their resilience, overcoming Allison Harris & Simone Jardim in the semifinals with scores of 2-11, 11-7, 11-5. Megan Fudge & Jill Braverman defeated Mari Humberg & Susannah Barr 11-8, 11-6 in another tightly contested semifinal. Newell & Cederquist emerged victorious in the finals against Fudge & Braverman, winning 11-5, 11-2, while Humberg & Barr claimed the bronze by default due to Harris & Jardim's withdrawal.

Women's Singles:

In Women's Singles, Megan Fudge delivered a dominant performance against Kelsey Matthews in the semifinals, winning 15-5, 15-5. Kate Fahey displayed her skill by defeating Emily Cederquist with scores of 15-4, 15-10. The finals were an epic showdown, with Fudge narrowly defeating Fahey in a thrilling match that ended 22-20, 12-15, 19-17. Cederquist secured the bronze by overcoming Matthews 15-9, 15-12.
