Pickleball tournaments just got a little more interesting with the recent addition of WSOPickle. WSOPickle features a new and unique format that aims at finding “the single best doubles player” rather than the “best doubles team”. Players wanting to compete sign up as an individual and are randomly placed into pods where they compete with various partners throughout the event. At the end of the weekend, the player with the best results overall is crowned the champion.Alongside its unique format, WSOPickle is also known for having the largest individual payout of any pickleball tournaments to date, including the major tours. The champion of WSOPickle not only gets crowned the “best doubles player” but also goes home with a hefty $12,500 cash.This past weekend in Boca Raton, Florida, top players from all around the country competed for the large cash prize at WSOPickle’s first event including JOOLA Players Matt Manasse, Milan Rane, and Bobbi Oshiro. At the end of tournament play, Andrei Daescu was reigned the champion -- taking home the title and cash prize.WSOPickle plans to host more events similar to this in the future, with their next big event happening in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2024 (exact date TBD). The prize pool for Vegas is said to be double that of the event in Boca Raton, with the first place winner taking home $20,000.
