2023 Season Kicks Off Strong for Team JOOLA
Both the PPA and APP Tours kicked off their 2023 season this past weekend. The PPA hosted the Hyundai Masters in Rancho Mirage, CA, where they worked around inclement weather to get the men’s and women’s doubles draws played out on Championship Sunday. That made for a busy day for Ben Johns who found himself in the finals of 3 events. True to fashion, however, he powered through and secured his first triple crown of the year winning gold in men’s singles, gold in men’s doubles with Collin Johns, and gold in mixed doubles with Anna Leigh Waters. JOOLA's Federico Staksrud had an impressive run in singles, landing silver after a hard fought match against Ben in the finals. Also landing a spot on the podium was Team JOOLA’s Anna Bright who won a gold medal in women’s doubles alongside partner Anna Leigh Waters.Over in Punta Gorda, Fl, the APP kicked off its first tournament of the year with many fresh faces playing in the pro brackets. However, it was seasoned veteran Simone Jardim who found herself taking home two medals for Team JOOLA. Simone captured a gold medal in women’s doubles with partner Parris Todd and a silver medal in mixed doubles with Andrei Dasceu. Also securing a medal from Team JOOLA was Bobbi Oshiro who won a bronze medal in women’s doubles.Congrats to Team JOOLA on a successful start to the year!
