JOOLA Dynaryz ZGR Review by Coach Richard McAfee

JOOLA Dynaryz ZGR Review by Coach Richard McAfee

For years, rubber manufacturers have tried to develop a true hybrid rubber that combines the best playing characteristics of both the tacky Chinese rubbers and the speed and gears of modern European rubbers.  The results have mostly been rubbers that were very tacky, but lacked speed and gears or rubbers that played faster, but did not have enough grip to play the modern forward looping game.  JOOLA’s very popular Golden Tango and Golden Tango PS were a big step forward, but with the development of the new JOOLA Dynaryz ZGR - the long-awaited true hybrid power rubber has arrived.I have been using the JOOLA Dynaryz ZGR on the forehand side of my teaching racket (JOOLA Vyzaryz Hybrid) for the last couple of weeks.  This is a truly unique rubber that combines a grippy Hyper Traction Surface topsheet with JOOLA’s Hyper Bounce Sponge.  It does not play like anything else on the market.  Whether or not you play more of a European or Chinese topspin style of play, this rubber will meet your needs and add elements that your current rubber probably doesn’t have. The very grippy top sheet produces heavy spin and the ability to easily loop forward on every ball.  Smooth long strokes will generate strong spin, but at the same time short strokes can also generate a lot of speed. Having a grippy top sheet and a hard sponge makes for excellent control of low contact strokes, pushes, drop shots. Flips are a breeze to execute and loaded with spin.  Blocks are well controlled and when harder contact is made, the sponge engages, and the speed quickly kicks in.  The most fun I had with the rubber was in topspin strokes away from the table.  The spin “kick” on the table with counter-topspin stokes is amazing.I imagine that most people will want to use the JOOLA Dynarzy ZGR as a forehand rubber due to its hardness and weight.  This rubber requires racket speed to fully engage the sponge and would be best for a power topspin player.  Wait till you try counter-looping with the ZGR!
