Thrilling Matches at APP Atlanta Open

APP Atlanta Open:

The APP Atlanta Open wrapped up this past weekend with many familiar faces taking home medals. Lets explore the action-packed weekend by evaluating the results in all professional events. 

Men's Singles:

The first event of APP Atlanta was Men's Singles. In the Men's Singles Semifinals, Roscoe Bellamy secured a dominant victory over William Sobek with scores of 11-1, 11-9. Meanwhile, Jhonnatan Medina Alvarez engaged in an exciting match against Ryler DeHeart, emerging victorious with scores of 9-11, 11-8, 12-10. Next, Jhonnatan Medina Alvarez continued to impress, defeating Roscoe Bellamy with scores of 11-0, 13-11. In the Bronze Medal match, Roscoe Bellamy faced off against Jack Foster, and Bellamy emerged as the winner with scores of 12-10, 3-11, 11-6, earning him a chance to compete for the gold medal. In the final, Jhonnatan Medina Alvarez faced off against Roscoe Bellamy once again, winning 11-6, 11-9. 

Women's Singles:

Next up at APP Atlanta was Women's Singles. In the Women's Singles Semifinals, Salome Devidze faced a tough match against Dominique Schaefer, ultimately winning with scores of 13-11, 11-9. Simultaneously, Judit Castillo had a convincing victory over Megan Fudge, securing an 11-6, 11-4 win. In the Winner Bracket Finals, Judit Castillo faced Salome Devidze and continued her strong performance, winning 11-3, 11-7. In the Bronze Medal match, Megan Fudge and Salome Devidze battled fiercely, with Fudge emerging as the winner with scores of 10-12, 12-10, 11-4.  In the finals, Megan Fudge and Judit Castillo put on an intense showdown, leading to a 15-point tiebreaker.  Ultimately, Fudge emerged victorious and took home gold with scores of 11-3, 8-11, 11-1, and a nail-biting 15-13 in the final set.

Mixed Doubles:

Next, Mixed Doubles commenced at the APP Atlanta Open. In the Mixed Doubles Semifinals, Andrei Daescu & Susannah Barr faced off against Milan Rane & Martin Emmrich, winning 11-6, 11-4. Meanwhile, Hunter Johnson & Parris Todd had a similarly dominant performance, defeating Allison Phillips & Stefan Auvergne 11-6, 11-4. Advancing to the Winner Bracket Finals, Hunter Johnson & Parris Todd met Andrei Daescu & Susannah Barr, securing a hard-fought victory 11-9, 8-11, 11-6. Furthermore, Andrei Daescu & Susannah Barr faced off against Rob Nunnery & Vivian Glozman, winning handily with scores of 11-0, 11-9. Consequently, Nunnery & Glozman took bronze, as Daescu & Barr secured a spot in the finals. Lastly, Hunter Johnson & Parris Todd emerged as the champions after a closely fought battle against Andrei Daescu & Susannah Barr, winning with scores of 9-11, 11-7, and a nail-biting 11-9 in the final set.

Men's Doubles

Following, the men kicked off gender doubles at the APP Atlanta Open. In the Men's Doubles Semifinals, Rob Nunnery & Andrei Daescu showcased their dominance, defeating Carlos Di Laura & Wyatt Stone 11-1, 11-3. Conversely, Brendon Long & Stefan Auvergne engaged in a hard-fought battle against Hunter Johnson & Yates Johnson, securing a victory of 11-8, 15-13. Advancing to the Winner Bracket Finals, Nunnery & Daescu triumphed over Long & Auvergne with a decisive score of 11-5, 11-2. In the Bronze Medal match, Long & Auvergne faced Greg Dow & Anderson Scarpa, and it was Dow & Scarpa who emerged victorious, winning 11-5, 10-12, 11-1, earning a shot at the gold medal. Finally, in the highly anticipated final, Nunnery & Daescu delivered an outstanding performance, securing the gold medal by blanking Dow & Scarpa with a resounding score of 11-0, 11-0.

Women's Doubles

Lastly, the women concluded the APP Atlanta Open with Women's Doubles. In the Women's Doubles Semifinals, Simone Jardim & Parris Todd faced a formidable challenge from Riley Bohnert & Shelby Bates. Making a strong comeback after dropping the first game, Jardim & Todd came out on top 7-11, 11-1, 11-3. Conversely, Vivian Glozman & Alix Truong had a closely contested match against Susannah Barr & Megan Fudge, winning 11-9, 7-11, 11-2. Advancing to the Winner Bracket Finals, Jardim & Todd had a decisive victory over Glozman & Truong 11-1, 9-11, 13-11. In the Bronze Medal match, Fudge & Barr faced Glozman & Truong, winning with scores of 11-7, 11-4, earning them a shot at the gold medal. In the final, Fudge & Barr faced off against Jardim & Todd. Ultimately, Fudge & Barr emerged as the champions, winning with scores of 11-8, 12-10, and a thrilling 15-11 in the final set.

Next, the APP Tour continues its tournament season by traveling to Dallas for the APP Dallas Open 10/5-10/8.
