Team JOOLA Shines Bright: Impressive Podium Finishes at APP Dallas and PPA Vegas Tournaments
Introduction:
Two exciting tournaments took place over the weekend, with the APP Tour making its way to Dallas, Texas, and the PPA Tour stopping in Las Vegas, Nevada. These events showcased the impressive performances of Team JOOLA members, resulting in numerous podium finishes.
APP Dallas:
In Dallas, the JOOLA women's team left their mark on the Women's Doubles event, securing more than half of the podium positions. Vivian Glozman, partnering with Alix Truong, claimed a well-deserved bronze medal. Glozman and Truong displayed their prowess by defeating Mari Humberg and Judit Castillo in a backdraw match with a score of 15-12. Subsequently, they outplayed Riley Bohnert and Emily Ackerman, securing a convincing 15-6 victory. Although they engaged in a fierce three-set battle against Milan Rane and Bobbi Oshiro, Glozman and Truong narrowly missed out on Championship Sunday, losing 4-11, 11-2, 6-11.Milan Rane and Bobbi Oshiro fought their way to Championship Sunday and secured a silver medal, putting up a valiant effort against Megan Fudge and Susannah Barr, but ultimately falling in three sets, 7-11, 11-2, 9-11. Rane and Oshiro's journey to the finals included an impressive victory over the #1 seed, Parris Todd and Simone Jardim, with scores of 11-8, 11-8.
PPA Vegas:
In Las Vegas, Team JOOLA's performance was exceptional, resulting in podium finishes across nearly all events.Anna Bright had a strong run in mixed doubles alongside James Ignatowich, securing a spot in Championship Sunday, although they had to withdraw due to Ignatowich's injury and settled for the silver medal.In Women's Doubles, Allyce Jones and Etta Wright formed a formidable partnership, earning the bronze medal. They defeated Jackie Kawamoto and Rachel Rohrbacher 11-3, 11-9 in the quarterfinals and faced a tough challenge against Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau, resulting in an 11-2, 11-4 loss. However, they bounced back in the bronze medal match, defeating Irina Tereschenko and Jade Kawamoto with scores of 11-7, 11-6.In Men's Doubles, Federico Staksrud also made a significant contribution by securing a bronze medal alongside Pablo Tellez. Staksrud and Tellez showcased their skills by defeating Riley Newman and AJ Koller 11-5, 12-10 in the quarterfinals but faced a tough semifinal match against Dylan Frazier and JW Johnson, ending with a score of 4-11, 11-3, 4-11.
Triple Crown Performance:
Notably, Ben Johns showcased another remarkable Triple Crown performance for the season, securing gold in all three of his events. Ben clinched a gold medal in the singles event, defeating Aanik Lohani in straight games. In Men's Doubles, he teamed up with his brother, Collin Johns, to claim another gold medal, triumphing over Dylan Frazier and JW Johnson. Ben also partnered with Anna Leigh Waters to seize the Championship title in mixed doubles.
JOOLA Spotlight:
One of the standout performances of the weekend came from Aanik Lohani, who had never previously medaled at a PPA event. Lohani made an impressive run to Championship Sunday, defeating Julian Arnold, Hayden Patriquin, and JW Johnson along the way. However, in the finals, Lohani came up just short against the world #1, Ben Johns, losing in straight games.
