Six Gold Medals for Team JOOLA
This weekend was host to both the APP Atlanta Metro Open and the PPA Baird Open in Cincinnati where Team JOOLA showed up in force.
In Atlanta, Federico continued his gold medal streak in singles, taking down JW Johnson in the finals 11-4, 6-11, 11-9. The win secured Federico’s 3rd straight APP Tournament gold medal in singles.
On the women’s side, Simone Jardim and her women’s doubles partner Parris Todd battled through a tough draw to meet Jorja Johnson and Andrea Koop in the final. This was the second time the two teams faced one another during the tournament with Jorja and Andrea winning the first match-up. However, Simone and Parris got their revenge taking the final 15-11 in the fourth, deciding game. Simone also took home gold in mixed doubles with partner JW Johnson defeating Parris Todd and Dekel Bar 4-11, 11-5, 11-9.
Over in Cincinnati, Anna Bright partnered with Jessie Irvine to win her first-ever PPA gold medal. The pair had a decisive victory over Catherine Parenteau and Lea Jansen in the best of five final winning 11-8, 11-1, 11-6.
On the men’s side, Ben Johns partnered with his brother Collin to take the men’s doubles gold medal with a win over Tyson McGuffin and Jay Devillier 11-8, 11-2, 9-11, 11-4.
In mixed doubles, Ben and partner Anna Leigh Waters continued to show what a dominant force they are, taking home gold with a commanding 11-3, 11-1, 11-6 victory over Jessie Irvine and Jay Devillier.
