Atlanta was host to a second pickleball tournament this month, the PPA Peachtree Classic. The tournament offered some exciting matchups atop its sleek looking black and grey courts with two team JOOLA players medaling in multiple events.On the women’s side, Anna Bright picked up a bronze medal in singles before entering Championship Sunday where she and partner Jessie Irvine battled a tough 5-game final against Anna-Leigh Waters and Leigh Waters. The Waters were able to inch out the victory 11-8, 7-11, 9-11, 11-2, 11-5, landing Bright and Irvine a silver medal.On the men’s side, Ben Johns also secured a bronze medal in singles before heading to Championship Sunday where he played in both the men’s and mixed doubles finals. First-up was the men’s doubles final against Matt Wright and Riley Newman in what has become a fan-favorite rivalry. Matt and Riley came out strong in the first game taking a significant 10-1 lead. However, Ben and Collin went on a thrilling run, fighting their way back from the 9-point deficit to ultimately win the game 12-10. They used that winning momentum to carry them through the next two games winning them 11-7, 11-5 and securing the men’s doubles gold medal. Moving on to mixed doubles, Ben and Anna Leigh Waters continued their dominancy securing the gold medal victory over Catherine Parenteau and Riley Newman in a hard fought 4-game battle, 5-11,11-6,11-6,12-10.Congrats to Team JOOLA!
